Operatives of Anti - cultism team of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested of two suspected members of Eiye and Aiye Confranternity groups in Ajah area of Lagos.
A 24-year-old Ramon Saheed Olayinka, land grabber (Omonile) and an agent that supplies sand and granite to builder's at site, is one of the suspects and currently heard by the police.
Saheed revealed that he is a member of Eiye confraternity, a cult group he joined to defend his community from constant harassment and terror unleashed by Aiye groups of Confranternity who often disrupted their peace.
He further stated that as a result, he decided to get a gun for defence.
Narrating how he got the gun, Saheed said that somebody linked him up with the man from whom he purchased the gun.
Claiming that he joined the cult group this year in January after some Aiye members attacked and left many people killed, he decided to join. "I joined because we couldn't bear it any longer and we said enough was enough."
He further explained that their Balle, the Royal father of the community was the one that reported him to police.
"I was playing with a friend at a site when the gun fell off from my pocket. That was how they knew I had a gun and reported me to the Balle.
He confessed that he bought the locally made gun for N40,000 adding that someone paid for it for him.
Another suspect who is a member of Aiye confraternity, Shonubi Oyindande, 25, an Electrician was involved in a fight where he stabbed his victim with serious injuries on his body.
He explained that both of them engaged in street fight that landed him in police custody. "I am a father of two. I do not make trouble and everyone know me. I always mind my business. However, it was out of provocation that I stabbed the man."
It's the handiwork of the enemy. People that knew me expressed shock when they heard that I fought and stabbed the victim".
He explained further that: "I joined the cult group out of ignorance. It was purely a mistake. I am realised the implications of being a member of dreadly group. I utterly regretted my action."
The suspects would be charged to court on completion of the investigation.
