OGWAMA MD, FAROUK AKINTUNDE, JOINS HIGH-POWERED COMMITTEE FOR YAYI'S GOVERNORSHIP BID

OGWAMA MD, PCRC Leader Joins High-Powered Committee for Senator Adeola Olamilekan Solomon’s Ogun Governorship Ambition

ABEOKUTA — Farouk Akintunde, the current Managing Director of the Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA), has been appointed to a key committee in the campaign structure of Senator Adeola Olamilekan Solomon, popularly known as YAYI, as political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of the Ogun State governorship race.

Akintunde, a respected administrator and prominent community relations advocate, was appointed alongside other notable personalities, including retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Subair, who serves as the Chairman of the committee, and former Commissioner of Police, CP Ajogun (Rtd.), who also brings extensive experience in security and public administration to the campaign team.

The appointment of Akintunde is seen by political observers as a recognition of his years of service, leadership experience and contributions to community development, security advocacy and public administration.

As the Managing Director of OGWAMA, Akintunde has continued to play a significant role in the management and administration of the state’s waste management system, while also contributing to initiatives aimed at promoting environmental sanitation and public welfare.

Beyond his public service responsibilities, Akintunde is an accomplished academic and professional with a background in Criminology and Strategic Studies. He is a Graduate of Criminology and Strategic Studies and a Distinction Fellow of the Institute of Criminology and Strategic Studies (FCSS).

His professional background and involvement in security-related matters have also earned him recognition within the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), where he has played active and important roles at the Ogun State, South-West and national levels.

Over the years, Akintunde has remained deeply involved in efforts aimed at strengthening cooperation between security agencies and members of the public through his participation in the activities of the PCRC.

His inclusion in the campaign committee alongside experienced retired senior police officers is expected to further strengthen the structure, particularly in areas where strategic planning, grassroots engagement, security experience and community relations will be required.

The appointment of retired AIG Subair as Chairman of the committee and the inclusion of former Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ajogun (Rtd.), reflect the calibre of experienced individuals being assembled as part of the broader campaign machinery.

Supporters and political associates of Akintunde have described his appointment as well deserved, noting his track record in public service, community engagement and security-related advocacy.

With the political atmosphere in Ogun State gradually becoming more active, the emergence of Akintunde as a key member of the campaign committee is expected to add further strength to the mobilisation efforts surrounding Senator Adeola Olamilekan Solomon YAYI's governorship aspiration.

The development also highlights the growing importance of experienced administrators, community leaders and security professionals in political organisation and campaign strategy as stakeholders position themselves for the next phase of political activities in Ogun State.
