In a significant move to enhance community engagement and ensure accurate population data, the National Population Commission (NPC), led by the Hon. Federal Commissioner Dr. Adenuga Olayinka, paid a courtesy visit to the Ewekoro Local Government on [insert date]. The visit was also attended by the State Director of NPC and aimed to galvanize support for the forthcoming Population and Housing Census.

During the meeting with the Ewekoro Local Government Chairman, the NPC delegation discussed the critical role of vital registration services, highlighting the urgent need for birth and death certificates. Dr. Olayinka emphasized that birth certificates for children aged 0–17 are crucial not just for identification but also for future age attestation. Meanwhile, adherence to due processes for issuing death certificates was underscored as an essential element of lawful registration practices.

The NPC team articulated the importance of integrating the National Identification Number (NIN) into these registration processes. This integration is pivotal for keeping pace with advancements in data management and ensuring that citizens’ identities are securely linked to their demographic records.

One of the most pressing messages from the NPC team was the critical need for accurate data projection regarding population inflow within the Ewekoro community. As government allocations are increasingly based on population figures, the delegation stressed the necessity of a credible census. Accurate census data is not only vital for resource allocation but also plays an essential role in equitable representation and local governance.

Awareness and community sensitization emerged as key factors in achieving high participation rates in the census. The NPC officials urged local residents to embrace their civic responsibility, noting that political empowerment is closely tied to informed census participation. “Political deprivation can be avoided if the community takes census participation seriously,” Dr. Olayinka remarked, calling for collective action towards ensuring that every resident is counted.

The NPC delegation appealed for increased cooperation from the Local Government, recommending the establishment of a Population Committee to enhance collaboration between the NPC and community leaders. In response, the Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government expressed his gratitude for the NPC’s visit and assured the delegation of his administration’s readiness to mobilize and sensitize the communities on the importance of the census exercise.

The meeting was attended by several dignitaries, including the Vice Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government, Alh. Bisola Aliu; Hon. Aladeselu Adewale, SLG; and other management officials, showcasing a united front in the mission to prepare the community for the census ahead.

As Ewekoro gears up for this pivotal exercise, the NPC’s emphasis on community cooperation and accurate data collection resonates strongly, reinforcing the crucial role that every citizen plays in shaping the future of their local government area.
