Mashifa, Nigeria – July 23, 2025 – In a heartfelt celebration of education and community spirit, Engr. Ogundele Jamiu, affectionately known as Jamsalod, returned to his roots in Mashifa village to commemorate a significant academic milestone. The event was a vibrant three-in-one celebration, reflecting his unwavering commitment to his hometown and his passion for empowering the next generation through education.
Engr. Jamiu, who has gained recognition as a successful entrepreneur and engineer, embodies the transformation possible through dedication and hard work. His journey from humble beginnings in Mashifa to becoming a leader in rural development serves as an inspiration to countless individuals, highlighting the potential within every child in the region.
Joined by Hon. Naphew O. Abimbola, Secretary to the Local Government, Engr. Jamiu began the day with a strategic meeting with Chief Ogundele Yahya, the Baale of Mashifa. Together, they identified innovative strategies to enhance educational opportunities not only in Mashifa but also in the surrounding villages, including Apesin, Mashifa Ogundele, Mashifa Alabede, Koletaje, Afidipote, Kofejo, Ologbogbo, and Abolumo. Their shared background motivated them to advocate passionately for local stakeholders, emphasizing, “If we could make it from here, then every child from this village has the potential to succeed too.”
The day took on an intimate essence as Engr. Jamiu interacted with villagers, sharing anecdotes of his upbringing and connecting with residents, including an elderly woman peeling cassava. The warmth in the community's response was palpable, as villagers expressed their gratitude for his ongoing commitment to their development.
As the clock struck noon, the graduation party at Mashifa Community Primary School commenced with an air of festivity. Engr. Jamiu was not just a guest but an integral part of the celebration, dancing and laughing alongside the children, his joy illuminating the occasion. In a stirring speech to the attendees, he expressed, "I grew up on this same soil. Education changed my life. If we give our children a chance, they can become the future leaders and innovators of our nation."
In a bid to alleviate the financial burdens on families and foster educational continuity, Engr. Jamiu announced a pledge to provide free school bags and exercise books to every child at the beginning of each academic session. His encouragement of parental support for education resonated deeply, as he assured attendees that essential writing materials would be provided at no cost whenever school resumed.
Further demonstrating his commitment to the community, Engr. Jamiu distributed cash gifts to all parents present. In recognizing their sacrifices and commitment to their children's futures through education, he instilled a sense of pride and hope.
