The Department of State Services and the Police, Nigeria's Justice Minister and Attorney General, Abubakar Malami, said Nnamdi Kanu,
the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) was 'intercepted' on Sunday 27 June.
Malami stated this during a joint media briefing that the arrest was by the effort of intelligence services.
The Justice Minister said Kanu has been returned to Nigeria to face his 11-count charge bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony, illegal possession of firearms, among others.
