Suspect who bought pistol for N80.000 said there is no security in Nigeria



Its Operatives of Lagos state police command attached to Denton Division, has arrested a man for allegedly threatening to shoot a woman and her son in a Mosque at the  Ebute metta.

The incident occurred on May 3, at about 11 am received a complaint that Mrs Olatunji Shakirat Mayo, was being threatened by Omotayo Olaiya, who vowed to kill her with a gun inside the Ansarudeen Mosque, located at no 72-74, Bola Street, Ebute-Metta  Lagos.

Based on the complaint, a Surveillance team was detailed to track down the suspect and he was eventually arrested. 

Newsafrican learnt a Brownie Pistol and one Motorola walkie-talkie were recovered from the suspect.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he bought the pistol from one Taiwo,who is residing at Ikorodu Area of the State in November 2020, at the rate of N80,000.

"I bought the pistol to defend myself no security in Nigeria,it was out annoyance I threatened her,I never meant any harm .

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State; Command, Mr Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered that the case be transferred to the Command’s Special Squad, Ikeja, for proper investigation and arrest of other culprits in connection with the case of unlawful possession of firearms and threat to the life of the complainant
