Nigerians from all walks of life will on Saturday, September 26, 2020 honour Second Republic Governor, Alhaji Lateef Jakande for his superlative performance and achievements.
‘’We are honouring the man that gave a lot of people accommodation in Nigeria, particularly Lagos State’’ a statement by the Alaka LSDPC Community Development Association said.
The statement described the renowned journalist, ex-governor and minister as a man of great moral strength and principle.
‘’Paintings of the ex-governor and modern housing schemes adorning the conspicuous entrance wall of Alaka Community will be unveiled at 10:00am on Saturday, September 26. The drive way of the community will be named LKJ Boulevard’’ the statement said.
Signed by the Vice Chairman, Alaka LSDPC Community Development Association, Mr Bolaji Jubril, the statement praised the ex-governor for implementing the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) housing programme, tapping the revenue resources derivable from land, providing affordable houses for the low and middle income citizens of Lagos State and making positive impact on the sands of time.

Particularly, the statement applauded Jakande for leaving a legacy of transparency and buoyancy in Lagos State, promoting poverty alleviation through employment of thousands of Nigerians and protecting the good people of Lagos.
‘LKJ as he is fondly called is also being honoured for getting rid of the filth and unhealthy living conditions that existed then in Lagos State, transforming the slum areas and ghettos into a planned and habitable environment, putting in place a liberal policy of payment for the allotees of Government housing units and making Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC) the most effective housing authority in Nigeria’’ the statement added.
