Abeokuta: Immediate past member of House of representatives for Abeookuta North, Obafemi Owode and Odeda Federal constituency, Hon. Mukaila Olayiwola Kazzim, surprised not a few who witnessed the flag-off of women in trade empowerment, programme tagged "KO TANSIBE".
KO TANSIBE, which connotes "continuous welfare and empowerment support, is a brainchild of Hon. Micky Kazzim, powered by M~Care foundation. It is a programme specially design to continuously support women, men, artisans and the downtrodden without political undertone.
The first phase which was held on Thursday 10th September, 2020, had in attendance over 200 beneficiaries who went home with cash support of between N100,000 and N10,000 trade support.
The maiden edition of the landmark event had beneficiaries divided into four different categories based on their need assessment, trade type and prospect.
While the first category labelled, A, went home with N100,000, Category B was given N50,000 and
Category C beneficiaries got N30,000
Category D which is the last set of traders got N10,000 each to support their trade.
While speaking at the event, Hon. Micky Kazzim said "the message that we need more women who are ambitious and want to lead the commerce field should be loud and clear. As basic and fundamental pillar in the socio-economic growth of the society, we need to push women to dream big. Empowering women is not just the right thing to do; it is the smart thing to do. We must therefore equip women with tools, skills and networks which they need and support them to rise to greater height".
While admonishing the beneficiaries, Chief Mrs. Teju Bakre, popularly called T-Black, the Iyaloja of Lipede Market, Kuto, Abeokuta, said the beneficiaries should utilise the funds wisely to grow and expand their trade in order to multiply and prosper.
Eminent dignitaries present at the remarkable event are, current House of Assembly member representing Abeokuta North State Constituency, Hon. Modupe Mojota, Immediate past house of assembly member for Obafemi Owode, Hon. Tunde Sanusi, Past Local government and LCDA chairmen for Abeokuta North, Obafemi Owode and Odeda, past councillors, and other notable government functionaries.
In acknowledgement, the proud donour, Hon. Micky Kazzim thanked almighty Allah for the grace to keep giving back to the society and used the opportunity to thank his boss and mentor, Immediate past Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun CON, FCA for giving him the privilege to demonstrate his capacity in serving the people of Abeokuta North, Obafemi Owode and Odeda local governments in the 8th Assembly.
