CP Adie, while condoling with the bereaved family, assured that justice and fairness in the matter was served.

It would be recalled that Inspector Egharevba was responsible for the death of a 20-year-old fashion designer, Taiwo Ayomide, who was battered with the butt of the gun over N50 bribe.

After the battery, the later died at the Ladoke Akintola Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, where he was receiving treatment.

The incident took place last week when the deceased and his brother,  Oladimeji Wasiu, were coming back from Sallah celebration before he met his untimely death at an illegal police checkpoint in the state.

The incident which occurred on Wednesday about 3.30pm around Ilahun village along Ibokun road, involved the victim and his brother who were riding on a motorcycle from his town Iragbiji area of Osun state before the police officer, identified as Inspector Ago Egharevba stopped them and demanded for a bribe.

It was learnt that before he could bring out the money from his pocket, the police man allegedly hit him on the head with the butt of the rifle culminating to head injuries that ultimately led to his death later in the hospital.

Realising that the victim was injured and unconscious, Wasiu narrated, the police was said to have removed the N50,000 with his phone in the victim’s pocket and immediately fled the scene abandoning them.
