The Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Mr. Benjamin Atu, on Monday urged the people of Edo State to distance themselves from Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement in Benin, Atu described Oshiomhole, Bola Tinubu and Ganduje as symbols of impunity.
He accused them of putting on the line Nigeria’s unity, nascent democracy, security and economic wellbeing.
‘’Former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC),Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and some members of the Edo State House of Assembly are inviting a far greater calamity on Nigeria.
Their actions have sent wrong signals to members of the international community’’
Atu underscored the undemocratic conduct of Oshiomhole,Tinubu and some members of the Edo State House of Assembly, the political ditch Oshiomhole plunged himself into,the creation of a polity with high public morality and the way Obaseki went about meeting the people’s expectations.
He also emphasized the complete subservience of Oshiomhole and Ize-Iyamu to some masters in Lagos, Kano and Imo, massive amount of coercion, lies, hypocrisy and masquerading.
"Edo State cannot return to subservience.We must put an end to godfatherism.Governor Godwin Obaseki is an asset and knows the needs and interests of the common people. Governor Obaseki also understands the essential features of Edo State and he is acting on this understanding to change them and make them serve the common people’’
He said Edo State witnessed her golden period under Obaseki.
‘Obaseki’s numerous achievements have continued to make him the man of the people anywhere he goes.’
The deputy governor’s media aide said the current administration enhanced productivity through agro-allied industrialization.
‘’Security received priority from government. Obaseki is a good man. He will continue to put the proper policies in place. All that will come from Ize-Iyamu is to take Edo State back’’
The statement brought out clearly the second term agenda of Governor Obaseki.
‘’The good people of Edo State cannot be fooled forever. They now know Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Ize-Iyamu and Gani Audu. They know those that will run public offices as private estate and drain the state’s resources. They also know that Obaseki will continue to add value to the state, give strong leadership to Edo State and identify with the conditions and interests of the people ’’
