Ogun APC Primaries: Amosun Rallies Support for Afuape, Afolabi, Calls for Unity

By Staff Reporter

ABEOKUTA — Ahead of the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections in Ogun State, the Federal Commissioner representing Ogun State at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Hon. Akeem Akintayo Amosun, has intensified efforts to galvanise party members, calling on all loyalists and card-carrying members of the party to rally behind Hon. Afolabi Afuape and Senator Salisu Shuaib Afolabi.

Hon. Amosun made the appeal during a strategic meeting with party faithfuls, stakeholders and supporters held at his residence, popularly known as AK City, in Abeokuta, where he stressed the importance of unity, discipline and loyalty in ensuring the continued dominance of the APC in Ogun State.

Addressing the gathering, the APC chieftain urged members across Abeokuta South Federal Constituency to vote massively for Hon. Afolabi Afuape in the party’s primary election scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026. He also canvassed support for Senator Salisu Shuaib Afolabi as the preferred aspirant for Ogun Central Senatorial District ahead of the senatorial primary slated for Monday, May 18, 2026.

According to Amosun, the APC remains strongest when members work together in harmony and align with decisions reached collectively by the party leadership.

“The party has spoken with one voice and as loyal members of the APC, we must all align with the direction of the party. Our collective interest must supersede personal interest. Victory can only be guaranteed when we work together as one family,” he declared.

He described the upcoming primaries as a critical moment for the APC to reaffirm its internal democratic credentials and showcase its political maturity ahead of future electoral contests.

Our party remains the most formidable political structure in Ogun State and Nigeria at large. We must prove once again that APC is a party built on discipline, loyalty and progressive ideals. I urge every member to troop out peacefully and vote massively for our endorsed aspirants,” Amosun added.

The former lawmaker further appealed to party members across wards and local government areas to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the primary elections, warning against acts capable of causing division within the party.

There should be no room for violence, rancour or division. Let us conduct ourselves responsibly and show the true spirit of progressivism. Politics should unite us and not divide us. At the end of the day, APC remains one big family,” he said.

The meeting at AK City attracted a large turnout of APC faithfuls, youth groups, women leaders and political associates, many of whom openly pledged their commitment to the success of the party and the endorsed aspirants in the coming primaries.

Observers at the gathering noted that Amosun’s endorsement could significantly strengthen the political fortunes of both Hon. Afolabi Afuape and Senator Salisu Shuaib Afolabi, especially given his influence within the APC structure in Ogun State.

The forthcoming primaries are expected to generate considerable interest among party stakeholders and political watchers as the APC prepares for future electoral contests in the state.
